British Citizenship for my wife

Post by Vijay.pailla » Mon Nov 24, 2014 7:05 am

Hello

This is Vijay
I have been granted british citizenship last month and now waiting for my first british passport
My question is regarding my wife's citizenship.
We got married in Nov 2011 and she is in UK since Dec 2011
By this Dec it will be her 3yrs of stay in UK
So can I apply directly for her British Citizenship without going for ILR ?
If yes, Could anyone please let me know which form to apply with and what are the necessary documents required
Should I have to wait for my passport to come or I can carryon with my Neutralisation Certificate as a supporting document to go with my wife's application ?

Please help me out

Thanks and Kind Regards
Vijay.

You can't apply for citizenship without ILR. You can use your citizenship certificate to prove that she is married to a British.

Just apply for ILR first and then immediately (same day she gets her ILR) for BC.. You can't avoid ILR...

Thanks for the reply

As I am already a british citizen now

Which form to apply for my wife's ILR

is it SET(O) or SET(M) ?

As in SET(O) it doesn't ask for any of my details or anywhere shows that she is appying for her ILR as my dependent

Please clarify me on which form to apply for her ILR SET(O) or SET(M) ?

Thanks
Vijay.

Sorry deleted previous post as I had replied too quickly.
Please click here and go through the wizard there. As you haven't told how you reached ILR status so there's not much anyone can help you with. Because the requirements are different for each route taken towards ILR.

Good luck :)

The answer has not changed, if your circumstances are still the same, since Vinny advised you in your previous thread.
