Spouse of British national

Post by Ahmed80 » Tue Dec 23, 2014 2:00 pm

Hi I am sending my application through post for naturalisation as spouse of a British Citizen today, based on 3 year rule.

However we might be filing for divorce in few weeks. Will that have any impact on the application?

Is any confirmation required by Home Office from the British Spouse? And does the spouse needs to inform HO of filing divorce?

If you are divorcing then its not a Spouse-based application at all.

They might check your marriage and on finding out you've divorced might reject it. I am not too sure the Spouse-based application is whether or not you were spouse at specific date of application. Seniors can tell better.

You are married until you are officially divorced..decree absolute and that usually takes minimum 6 months when both sides agree.
You don't have to notify HO about your divorce proceedings.
You can apply as a spouse of BC.
I am sometimes wrong.
