applying for first passport

Post by steve987 » Sun Jan 11, 2015 1:40 pm

Hi All,

I'm applying for a passport for my wife and I'm confused over some parts of the process. Can she apply having stayed here for 3 years and 5 months, does she need to take another test and is her english qualification acceptable.

Has passed the life in the uk test
ILR granted last year
Gained English level 1 qualification reading \writing from learn direct
Husband is a full uk citizen

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Steve

Kind regards

She has to naturalise first.

Thanks for the replies, I'm still not sure about the English requirement and whether her level one in English will suffice. Also if she needs to take another test alongside her life in the uk. Based on what I've read the 3 years should be enough of the stay length to start the naturalisation process. If there's anyone who could clarify these points would appreciate

Kind regards

By level one do you mean ESOL level 1 ???

Basically you need at least B1 CEFR which is equivalent to ESOL Entry level 3 or GESE Grade 5. It must also be taken by one of approved test centers mentioned in https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... r_2014.pdf
