UK citizens working in India tax

Hi all

Do we have to file returns or pay tax for income earned in INDIA if we are not in the UK ?

For information:

I called tax office and they say that as-long-as I maintain a non-resident in UK status (i.e out of UK for 180+ days) then I do not have to pay tax for the salary earned in INDIA as-long-as I pay tax in INDIA for the salary earned in INDIA

There is nothing need to be done (not even file returns here).
However tax is still very complicated topic and I advice people to read the HMRC website for more information
