Extension or ILR??

Hi there

Would someone be able to help as am confused:

Current Visa: Tier 1 General
Issuance: 13 April 2010
Extension: 13 April 2013
Date of initial application: 24 March 2010
First entry into the UK: 17 June 2010 (withn 90 days of issuance of UK Entry Clearance visa)

My visa expires on 13 April 2015 - do I need to apply for another extension or can I apply for the ILR? Really confused, so help would be much appreciated!

you are eligible to apply for ILR before your Tier 1 expiry, since you have entered within first 90 days of getting entry clearance. I hope you didn't cross more than 180 days in that first year. Experts can confirm my understanding.

Thanks spezenthil, I didn't exceed 180 days...I was within the limit (total 128 in the first year I believe, hope that won't be a problem!!)

No, not at a stretch but I was looking for a job for a couple of months before I found one - did some ad-hoc consulting work in the meantime. Does it matter?

I have to say though that I first entered the UK on 17 June 2010 and then left again on 10 July and then finally moved on 10 October 2010. I then went back home for a month in December, which totals to 128 days. I hope that's not a problem - it's under 180 days and my understanding is that there is no stipulation that you have to be in employment in all 5 years, as long as you are in employment/ self employed 12 out of 15 continuous months before you apply and meet other criteria.
