kt, Do you know when payment was deducted from your account? The application would have reached on the 27th but a more certain way of determining when your application will come up for processing is to find out when payment was taken. Until then, your application would not have reached the processing queue.

As f2k said, It would take atleast another 3 weeks.

Yeah, I think patience is the word truly :). this is the mail i received from HO today on enquiry for the decision on my application. So its wait and see;
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your enquiry.

According to our records, your application reached this office on 18th
May,2004. The process is on-going and as yet, no decision has been made. The Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP) Team is currently
experiencing a significant increase in the number of applications being received. As a result this has led to a short-term backlog of applications waiting to be considered.
The situation is being addressed and a number of steps andmeasures are being introduced with the aim of returning service levels to published standards. Some applicants or their representatives may have some progress issues that they would like to raise and the HSMP team will endeavour to address them.
However, in order to enable the team to focus its efforts and resources
on considering applications, it would help if enquiries were kept to a
minimum. We apologise to those applicants who may be experiencing delays and can reassure everyone that our aim is to consider applications as soon as possible.

If you have access to the internet please visit the .workingintheuk.gov.uk website, click on 'Schemes & Programmes' in the black bar and then 'Highly Skilled Migrant Program' on the left side for further information on this avenue. This page also contains the current
date the HSMP team are working on.

Kind Regards,
Its easy to follow the crowd, it takes courage to stand alone !

Boom05,
thats rather strange, i thought they had already Started applications from the 18th, someone on this forum who applied on the 18th of May said he received an email requesting further documents. I am not sure whether he is in country or out of country. But my theory now is that they are processing in country applications first.

At least they claim to be taking steps to sort out the “SHORT TERM” backlog, if they consider 6 months to be ‘short term’ then we are in trouble

Boom5,
The last days of waiting are the most difficult :) The result of your application should be out any day now. Good luck and let us know the outcome.

May appl NARIC referred

Post by Raji » Mon Nov 22, 2004 10:49 am

Happy to write that i received my HSMP approval today by POst. it took the post a week to reach Melbourne from the UK.

My app date : 6th May
received on 11th May
claimed 85 points : 25edu, 35 exp, 25(earnings)
no further docs asked, but NARIC was asked to assess my degrees (from Indian universities)

Was told of the decision on 12th Nov when I phoned HSMP

Now I have to apply for my visa.

Thanks to everyone for help.

I am in the IT industry and hope to be in London around mid-jan to start my job search.

job search

Post by Raji » Tue Nov 23, 2004 2:20 am

Thanks, ND.

My experience is in programming for finance cos in VB, Sybase, SQLServer. Any pointers that might help in my job search. I'm going to leave Aus by mid Dec.

Also is Dec15-Jan15 a quiet period in the UK for recruitment? I ask because it is certainly not worth applying for jobs during that period in Aus.

Any help is appreciated

Raji,

If u are in finanacials industry that will be a + for u ... and the remaining things it depends how strong u are in those languages,DBs.I would say in UK recruitement will be very slow from Dec15 - Jan5'th this is according to me ... but you can start applying from jan 5'th itself.

So I would suggest you to come here byt end of december and settle down for a week, study the market ...etc and from jan5'th u are ready to go ...

Hope this helps ... :)

I personally beleive that the market speeds up around February/march, many people are still in the holiday mood in January. But then again, I'm not a recruitment consultant. Go with your gut friend, or with superior experience.

Feb/March will be late according to me.I know so many people working in IT here and we ourselfs are giving offers to start from jan 5'th ... i dont think the recruitment will stop if there is real necessity.

It will defnitely stop from Dec 15'th -Jan 5'th.And one of my very close friend got a job at the end of jan 2004.And another one is taking up contract work next week.

And the rest is upto u...

I agree with ND. The recruitment will start again early Jan and not Feb/March. It will be non-existant during the Christmas time. Having said that, last year we contracted a DBA for 2 months starting 22th December 2003 ;)
