I also have called Home office number 03001232253. I was not happy/convinced for the couple of time, as they don't give any information if the application is less than 6 months old.You have to play consciously and tricky by telling them you do'not know the exact date of application and better ask around 6 months. They will then tell you the options to dial in..i,e..same number as above with option 1 and option 2 (instead of 1..listen to the full message). You have to wait a bit longer around 5-8 mins and then CSR will ask you ref num , D.O.B and Full name of applicant. They will then let you know about decision made or not. So a little tricky and bit of a bluff.

HO sends approval letter.hsmpaspirant2008 wrote:The letter from home office says invitation to ceremony. is this the samething as approval letter?
I thought the sequence would be as below,
1. Approval letter from HO
2. Invitation from HO
3. Invitation from Council
No?
Council should still send you invitation letter and they tell you to expect one when you book the ceremony.shivcs wrote:I received just one letter (per applicant) from home office saying the application is successful and need to call the council to book the ceremony. I rang the council and booked the ceremony. I was just asked for the HO reference number which is found in the letter sent by HO.
