Is Visa Possible for Gardeners and Turf Laying

Post by EveningStar » Tue Jan 27, 2015 12:55 pm

Hi all,

Have posted in Uk General Immigration before, but my first post here.

My boyfriend who is Dominican Republic National has a friend in the Uk who owns a Turf laying/landscaping company. He has told him his will look in to getting hime a work visa to come to the UK. Now I would, of course, love this but had already done some research on this topic and thought that he could only get a work visa - Tier 2 if the job was on the "UK Shortage List" of which I am pretty sure Turf laying/landscaping is not.

Can an EEA National be given a Tier 2 visa that would allow him to come to the UK and work without the job being on Shortage list?

Many thanks

ES

EEA National doesn't need a visa.

I think you mean a non-EEA national. No, the job is deemed as unskilled so there's no way he could be issued a Certificate of Sponsorship to do that.

If you married you could apply for him to come here as your spouse. But, naturally, you shouldn't just do that for a visa.

Sorry I do mean non-EEA.

I thought that was the case. I know the friend means well, but I really wish he would check his facts before getting his hopes up.

Thanks
