Dont know of any such study for both proffesions or educational programmes currently in demand in the UK.

One idea would be to look at proffesions classified as Tier 1 in Work permits. Tier 1 proffesions are also known as "shortage proffessions" which also amounts to in demand proffesions.

Look at the doctors section of the shortage list. It looks like they have mentioned all the specialisation fields there.

No wonder HSMP applications are processed on a priority for doctors.

This link I accidently stumbled over might help folks with 'in demand' jobs/ professions:
http://blogs.warwick.ac.uk/hsun/gallery ... imageNum=3

Another useful link could be: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/section/0,,716,00.html

But u need to pay here

For those who are already in UK, this info might be available in The Times Good University Guide 2005 at a local public library.
BTW, is there a great public library culture in UK like the USA ?

Dont know about the library culture in the USA. In London, there are quite a few public libraries in each area and you can get a membership after showing proof of address.
