query on natuaralisation application

Can i apply for naturalisation with certified copies of passport and brp so that i can still travel while HO keeps my docs for eternity?

You can keep your documents if you apply through NCS. I'm not sure the Home Office will accept certified copies otherwise.

And can I travel abroad while application in process?

Yes you can.

But need to have someone to check your mail then, in case HO requires interview/approval letter comes.
