Spouse visa so quickly??

Post by spring123 » Thu Feb 12, 2015 9:47 am

Hi

We applied for a spouse visa for my wife on Monday in Mumbai. I am a British citizen, so her visa is a family of settled person visa. Today we have received an email:

Your UK visa application has now been processed and a decision has been made.
Your passport and documents will be dispatched from the Mumbai office and will be returned to you via VFS. For further information on when your passport will be ready for collection you will receive an e-mail from VFS on the e-mail ID you have provided with your application. Additionally, if you have paid for the SMS service, you will also receive notification via SMS.

Can it be really true that in just 4 days they have managed to grant a visa? Is it likely the visa has been refused? If so, do they not normally ask for more information or give us an opportunity?

We submitted documents to satisfy all possible requirements, so I don't think it would be refused... but just a bit concerned!

Did the email subject contain a GWF number or Ref. number?

To me, it highly seems like a refusal email but I hope I'm wrong. You won't know for certain if it's a refusal until she opens her passport.

If it is a refusal, do they not first contact you to allow you to provide any other information they need?

I notice that the application timeline at Mumbai seems pretty quick: http://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/India/pdf/In ... 070215.pdf

See page 5 here where it says settlement visas 6 working days.

I understand that time frame. Now that decision has been made wait until she receive her passport to know if the visa has been granted or not. Your concern over the situation is very much understandable.

Lots.

Main documents:
Visa application
Appendix 2 for financial requirement

Supporting documents:
Salary slips - 9 months I think although only 6 required - original
National Insurance card photocopy
Bank statements showing salary credit - original
Mortgage statements - original
Title deed of property owned - photocopy
Council tax bill - original
Utility bill - original
Employment reference letter - original
P60 - original
Sponsorship form - VFS asked for it even though I'd received confirmation that it wasn't required
Wedding invitation
Wedding venue invoice
Wedding photos - of us, some with family, including one with a large group including extended family
Wedding registration certificate - original
Engagement function invitation
Engagement function venue invoice
Engagement function photos
NARIC letter for wife - both ELA and statement of comparability - original
Wife's degree certificate - photocopy
Telephone records showing calls to wife for an example month - online printout
Order details of gift sent to wife before wedding - Amazon printout
Passport photograph of wife
Passport - wife - original
My passport photocopy - all pages including blank pages
My Person of Indian Origin card photocopy - all pages
My naturalisation certificate photocopy
Wife's Tuberculosis testing medical certificate - original
My Wife's CV
Covering letter

I took along the visa appointment confirmation and email confirming payment of visa fees but this wasn't required.

Hope this helps. I categorised the information above in my covering letter, according to the sections in here: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... lement.pdf

I didn't submit any invitation or other letter from me saying that I'd like my wife to be granted a visa; I thought later that I should have, but clearly it is not required.

I think the key is to be organised, to provide sufficient information to prove the relationship is genuine and of course meet the financial requirement criteria.

Good luck - to you and to Mauser1905.

Congrats!!

It's pointless trying to guess from the notification email. Can't believe there are now conspiracy theories about what to look out for

Hello field_test12,

we have sent through Cochin VFS on 5th Feb, received email from BDHC on 12th Feb. I believe it will be a long wait. Perhaps Mumbai is fastest, with 6 days turnaround for settlement?

Good luck is your spouse visa? Mine is minor stepdaughter's settlement visa.

regards

Thanks Spring123,

Your documentation couldn't be more comprehensive. I had had similar detailed level with financial documents for 12 months as a minimum with last 2 years tax returns, photographs of house here, minor applicants time spent in India etc. It was 4" thick paperwork. important originals and photocopies etc.

Now its wait and watch.

regards
