It's taken me 2 3 months of on and off reading, but I've finally read every single page of this thread!

May Allah bless us all as those who have received their spouse visa first time without their application being refused, In Sha'Allah.

I'm pretty confident with the documents submitted for my wife's spouse visa. But reading through everyone's questions and experiences, it does make you wonder IF you really did submit everything correctly. However, I'm still confident that my wife's visa should be granted anytime soon, In Sha'Allah.
TIMELINE

FLR-M (Extension) granted on 24-08-17
ILR (SET-M) not due until 2020

Dear  xxxxxxxx,

This is an email to confirm that your UK visa application has been processed and will now be returned to the Visa Application Centre for collection.

You will be contacted when your passport and documents are ready for collection.  Please do not go to the Visa Application Centre before you have been advised to do so and you are also reminded to avoid making travel plans until you have collected your passport.

If you need to contact us you can do so via our International Enquiry Service at: www.gov.uk/contact-ukvi-outside-uk.

You did better than me @ reading all the pages of this thread. I did read some as well. Yes at times you start to question your own application. I would say just have faith in Allah (SWT) and inshaAllah it will all be fine. He is the One Who is Decision Maker. I hope you hear a good news about your wife's visa soon inshaAllah.

You can ask for an update, you have to give her details though. Such as application reference number, Date of Birth, Application Date, Location and so on.
So I contacted them an hour ago and got this reply back….
Dear XXXXXXXXX,

Thank you for contacting the UK Visas and Immigration International Enquiry
Service.

We understand that you would like to know about the current status of your
visa application. I have tracked the status (GWFXXXXXXXX and date of birth
XX/XX/XXXX) and found that there are no current updates. This could be
because your application was submitted recently or the details that you
have provided above are incorrect.

If it is the former you may contact us at a later stage once our records
have been updated. We will be happy to give you the current status of your
application. If the information provided is incorrect then please provide
the 9-digit GWF number and the date of birth of the applicant.

Alternatively, once the process has been completed and a decision has been
made the visa application centre will be in contact as per process.
You think this means, they haven't started on my wife's application yet? Or does it mean they've not bothered finding out properly? Because the info I provided is 100% correct. I only provided the info they ask for on their page: https://ukvi-international.faq-help.com I didn't include any extra info and requested for an update on the latest status of the application.

This is their standard first contact response. If you ask them again they should reply to you in a day with more appropriate response. After asking few times normally they ask you to escalate and give you following format to provide information in,

Full name of applicant:
Application number (GWFxxxxxxxxx):
Visa application centre reference number:
Date of application:
Date of birth of applicant:
Place of application ( City and Country ):
Type of Visa applied:
Nationality:
Passport Number:
Reason:

You can use above format, fill it in and send a request for a status update again. They should give you better response.

Would it be too soon to contact them again today or should I wait a day or two? And should I wait for them to ask me to escalate it or shall I just submit the above information as you suggested? Thanks!

You can contact them tomorrow by providing the detailed information. They always look into your query history, so they would know you were not given any update. They should try to get an update.

Saying that the worst case scenario was that one of the forum user asked for an update and on Saturday she received an answer saying "it is too soon for her to contact them and for them to escalate her case, so they would NOT be escalating her case" she received that message on satuday "I think someone at HGS was having a bad day!!". Monday she received 2 emails from BHC and her visa was garanted.

Just use the name of the Visa application Centre, that should do such as "Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi or Mirpur".

Ok cool. Is the date of application the online application submission date or the day the documents were handed over to gerrys or the day BHC received the docs?

You can put both dates (Date of Online Application xx/xx/xxx & Date of Documents Submission xx/xx/xxxx), don't need to add the documents received date.

Salam everyone I am new on this forum.
My partner has recently submitted Spousal application (Student dependant) last month.
I have been reading this forum for help, however, I don/t understand some terms like.
1) What is meant by escalation here? How and Why?
2) What is Initial checks & pre assessment ?
