PAN Card

Hi,
I am an British Citizen with OCI card holder, I am thinking of applying for a PAN Card, can someone suggest where to apply and what are the pros and cons of having that card,

I have read elsewhere in some other forums that applying for PAN card from outside INDIA has been a cumbersome process and sometimes takes a lot of time.
IF you are planning to go to INDIA and have income source in INDIA then best is to go to INDIA and apply for PAN card with OCI as your ID proof. This path is reported by many as quick and very easy.
