British nationality for people working in 1960s

Dear fellows,

My father studied and worked in the UK between 1961 and 1970.

Is there any chance or scenario for him to apply/obtain british nationality?

Are there any priviledges in law?

He is living in Pakistan since 1970, although visited UK several times including twice in last 2/3 years.

I know that the question might sound , but I just want to check if there is any option.

I don't think it is possible.
One of the requirements for naturalisation is to be UK resident for the last 5 years and to hold ILR which you lose if you have been out of UK for more than 2 years.

Were any of his children born in the UK while he was studying or working in the UK? There is a chance, a slim one, that any children born in the UK before 1971 while their parents were legally resident could be British by birth.

My manager is in that group. His parents were Commonwealth students in the UK in the 1960s. He and his twin sister were born in London and so are British by birth. Their elder and younger siblings have no right to British citizenship because they were not born here.

However, to revert to your question about your father, it is unlikely that he would be able to claim any form of British citizenship or nationality. Having said that, British nationality law in the 1960s was very different from today's and it is worth consulting an immigration lawyer that specialises in the law of that time.
