Visa applied before July 2012. English test requirement?

Post by single_lonely » Sat Mar 07, 2015 5:48 pm

Submitted application for spouse visa on 13 june 2012.
This was before the new laws for financial requirements.
I submitted the extension documents without the financial requirements but wanted to clarify my English needs.

Do i still need to do the knowledge of life in the UK and a English test?

Thanks in advance

Yes. Life in the UK. Also B1 English (unless from an exempt Country or degree taught in English).

He doesn't need the Life in the UK as its an extension.
As he applied before the law change does he still have to do the English B1?
If so where (I can't tell from the list where I can go)

OK, within your text I missed the word extension. It would help to have the visa category made clear. If it's for FLR(M) then A1 level English is required. Why an extension if applied for under the pre-July 2012 rules? Was there a delay in issuing the visa?

Edit: Trawling through your other posts I can see that the FLR(M) extension application was due to not passing the Life in the UK test, which you appear to already have applied for.

It only becomes confusing if you open multiple threads. :?

Sorry I received no response so posted again.

Applied for an extension as English life in the UK was not passed.
As I'm applying under old rules do i still need the A1 English?

The predicament now is I have only a short time.
Do you know of any providers in the northwest (ideally but can travel elsewhere) where i can give an English test.
(which is on the home office list).
I have read the spreadsheet but unfortunately they don't give names address etc.
thanks

Yes, A1 English is mandatory. I'll let someone else advise on your nearest test provider.
