Hi,
My daughter applied for her first British Passport on March 3 via check services, no confirmation, no SMS. She sent her current passport, Birth Certificate and Naturalisation. Payment was done in the post office.
Still waiting

I have sent my document by check and send from post office and I have paid for the special delivery for my documents? Does anyone know if this is gonna be send by DX delivery or post office special delivery?

Thanks!

Dear All,

I have just noticed only the passport fee was deducted despite of I asked secured delivery. I asked the jumbo passport which is £85.50 and exactly this is what it was taken not £88.50
Has anything like this happened to anyone before?
Both of my children have British passport and the fees were taken both times
I have my interview on Friday and I will ask about it but meantime I thought I would ask here.
just I am slightly worried as my passport is just completely new not to mention the Nat . certificate...
Thanks

Looking at the last few pages here, the average waiting time for a passport is 12.3 working days (15.6 calendar days) with the range being 8 - 21 working days (10-28 calendar days). Sample size of 18 applications (omitted one clear outlier).

Question is - shall we expect the approval timelines to get longer in May/June (ahead of summer holidays)? I need to decide whether to apply in April, when I only have 16 working days between pre-booked trips for which I need my docs, or in May, when I have more time to wait... Thoughts?

I would apply as soon as possible. Now the holidays are coming. Im sure the waiting time will be longer. Last year in June it took 11 weeks for my son to get his passport...

Guys,

I am furious. I asked them to send back my passport and the nat.certificate with DX secure however they did not take the money for it I was just slightly worried as I thought they would deduct it later.
Today we received the post and they sent it back Royal Mail second class. I am furious. Has anything like this happened to anyone?

Be happy mate. They didn't charge you for the DX delivery and you received your documents back safely. What's there to be stressed about? Its only £3 extra but I would rather have Royal Mail send back my documents than DX.

I did want them to be sent by secured delivery. I did ask them. So you say to be happy just because they were not lost at the post??? My passport does not mean anything to you but it means a lot to me and it would be a huge problem if it was lost. I asked a service which was not provided. Do you get it? Mate...

I'm impressed with the speed of the whole thing. I suppose it helps applying outside the main holiday season.
