Landing Cards

Post by immigration1 » Thu Sep 27, 2007 2:06 pm

I came across a Landing Card where for CAT at the bottom of it (IO fills this in) it stated R. The person in question is a student. She was coming back from holidays. Does this mean that she is 'RETURNING' hence the 'R'. Normally IOs would state STL or STS depending whether the person is here for short-term or long-term studies. Does anybody know what the R stands for?

Thanks

How did you "come across" it? The landing card is supposed to be handed in to an immigration officer on arrival in the UK.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

Strange, how did you get hold of the landing card? But you are right the R stands for returning. STL or other categories are completed on first entry, every other entry is an R.
