Switching to Tier2 General will not reset your ILR clock.

Hi Mate..

I am not 100% sure, but if the passport is expired and visa is approved HO will request to submit the fresh passport.
Check with embassy if they can issue you a new passport on NICOP.
THanks
Akbar

Hi naveed
You got right answers from o'reilly and Akbar
I am curious to know reasons for you to switch from tier 1 to tier 2?
I understand it's pain nowadays to be tier 1 general applicant, but still want to learn from you the reasons and conditions for the switching.

Hi,

I am in appeal process after getting a Tier 1 visa rejection. Although I am positive about my appeal, what I am not sure that how long will it take to get the decision.

In The mean time I am considering my all options available. My passport is going to expire in late October. So, If appeal is successful how I may get the visa, and if that is unsuccessful, I understand that I can file another visa (Tier 2) within 28 days of appeal dicision.

Therefore planning and thinking all these now.

Thanks v much for you all for response. so can somebody please advise if in worst case if appeal got declined and my passport is going to expire how my i file for another visa application.

Regards,
Naveed

Don't worry about passport expiry now
According to me getting visa is paramount and I pray your appeal is positive or worst case you get tier-2
As Akbar already replied, you should be able to get visa again in new passport as all visa stamp asks for minimum 6 months validity or I think you should be allowed to carry new passport as well old passport with visa.
I am not sure but do check it others who are experts.

Hi

Can somebody points me to the right para which says I can use a combination of Tier 1 and Tier 2 period (say Tier one 3 years and then 2 years in Tier 2) for ILR 5 years requirments.

Thanks for your help
