September 2014 - Naturalisation Application Timeline

I phoned this number 03001232253 and followed instructions for over 6months.

Infact the lady was about to avoid me by saying she would take my number and get the case worker to call me back within 24hrs but I cut in saying that its been over 6months now and I need to know why the delay. That was when she realised I was a genuine over 6months applicant.

She then said ok that she will check to see what my status is but will not be in a position to provide further info. That was when she told me that its still under consideration. I then impatiently cut in that I would appreciate it if the senior case worker on my case can give me a call back to explain the reason for the delay.

Apparently at 3pm I saw a missed call and a voice message and when I listened to it, It was a case worker from the HO saying that they are just waiting on the result from the final and last check and I should get a response from them within a couple of weeks. I felt bad that I had missed the call because I was ready to drill them and get them to be specific on which check exactly and If I could help with further info....Actually one of my reference just picked up a job in saudi Arabia and I have been thinking that maybe they have tried to contact him with no luck. I have emailed him anyway

Can anyone confirm how HO contacts the referee, is it via telephone, email or post please?

I just rang HO and it was the weirdest experiecne....they say the following word for word:

1. It is normal that it has taken over 6 months. Applicant need to be patient.
2. The have moved from sheffield to newcastle today so they do not have any system to check the progress on any application.
3. She would expect that it has reached the last stage without even taking any details from me at all
4. Do not call us in a months time.

no regret...no sorry..just plain rude....unbelievable.....just absolutely unbelievable....I am sure whether anybody had this type of experiecne....

I asked my referees and none had been contacted. My application took just under 6 months so there were plenty of checks.

Thanks for the almighty God, our citizinship APPROVAL has just arrieved (me and my wife) it was dated 21/03/2015 (saturday) and recieved today 26/03/2015. i know the hardship of waiting is unbearable but I'm 100% sure yours will be there soon. forget 3rd part checking i think it doesn't exist they just don't have enough staff to handle the applications. good luck guys wishing you all the best.

Finally, just received the famous brown envelops for me and my wife. I applied on 2nd of September 2014.Letter Dated on 20th march 2015.. I did wrote letter to mp and ukba on 10th of march. Good luck for those who are waiting.

Friends, Finally I have some good news to share from my end too! My wife just called me and said that the famous brown envelope arrived. We have now received the approval – myself, my wife and my son. I applied on the 9th of September. If it helps, I like to share my strange experience here.
I called up HO twice, once on the 12/March and again on 19/Mar. The guy who picked up on the 12th was extremely apologetic for the delay and said my application is in the final stages and the guy who picked up on 19th was very rude and said it is still outstanding and he cannot say anything and it can take 2 months, 5 months etc. It was very painful. I decided to give up on calling the HO. But after I saw some updates in this forum, I wrote a letter to HO on 21/March and I also decided to write a letter to my MP which I did on the 21/March(Saturday) and I got a quick response back from my MP’s secretary on 23/March(Monday) who said she contacted HO and they said mine is still outstanding but hoping to decide soon. But I think they have lied about my status as I see from the approval letter today that the letter was dated 21/March so I do not know what sort of status updates these HO guys give. Something is disconnected within the HO system.

So, for all those dear friends who have been waiting till date, as you might have seen the pending ones coming through quickly I am pretty sure there is more good news awaiting for others. I only wanted to share my above experience in such detail because I thought it may help you. In my case, none of the push worked (calls, letters, MP’s push) and it happened on its own after a lengthy waiting cycle. I know very well it is painful but please do not loose hopes and start thinking the approvals are around the corner. All the best!

i mentioned you three because I was just readign your post and surfing through the group as I always do for some uplifting stories to keep me from going insane only to have a look at my phone, read an email from my solicitor to say that the famous brown approval envelope has been received and all supporting documentation intact.

letter was dated 24th of March 2015, letter also states that i will shortly receive a invitation for citizenship ceremony

Its been a long wait but finally got there. I dont need to provide any more details as i have regularly been in touch with the group and will be available to respond to any querries, guidance from anyone needing one.

thanks to everyone in the group and especially the september team...your experiences, advice, words of encouragement made a difference. This is surely what my kids will get to here about...their fatherrs journbey to british citizenship.

To those who are still waiting, I cannot say further...than you will definitely get there. keep the faith.

Nice to see the September applications coming through.
This is probably my last post on the forum as my passport arrived today; 14 days from application to receipt so hopefully when you do your application it will be a lot quicker than 6 months.

@london_2014, pls don't give up..a lot of people who got that 3 to 6 months letter or mail have received the approval in less than month ..based on my experience the status updates from HO status updates mean nothing

@farhad34/ london_2014...dont loose hope...its just their tactics to keep you away while they do their stuff.
Personally I will keep calling untill I get some positive response as long as it is past 6months its your right to know what the deal is.
At the end of the day this guys at the HO are not fuzzed at all unfortunately but at least you will satisfy yourself that you made a move to find out.

Above all keep the faith alive, its only a matter of time.

I feel your pain my friend - as someone said in one of the other thread - This is not a race and I guess this forum sometime makes people more worried then they should (including me!). My application is hardly gone in for a month and seeing people in March already been approved, makes me worry for no reason.

Same experience here. Phoned last week. They asked me to wait for the 6 months letter which will explain the progress and everything. I even asked him to check on his system but no, just wait for the letter. At the end I just gave up.
A bunch of self-centered something.

@sherza/rakeysh.patel I guess its just to kep the hope alive, I deeply understand your frustration but you can take solace from the fact that the september applications are being attended to and hopefully yours will be next.

may be posting this on the wrong thread but I have a few questions...
Is it possible to have your ceremony at another council other than the one stipulated on your application form?

Just little update I called HO today about my application and I told them is been more than 6 months and the guy told me it looks like recently they send you disscision and you will receive the letter in week or 2 weeks time ,for me I don't believe they send it I think they just done it when I called them

Dont loose hope even if they say you still need to wait for 3 to 6 months, thats just thier way of giving them some time to sort the backlog.. good luck to everybody.
