Kids under 18 ILR or citizenship

Post by sureshjawaji » Thu Apr 02, 2015 10:21 am

Hi,

I am planning to apply for ILR I have new born baby who was born in Indian (4 monhts old) and is on Tier 1 dependant visa in UK at the moment.

My question is when we go for ILR do we need to get ILR for my kid?

or else

We parents get ILR then go directly for his british passport because once we get ILR kids are automatically eligible for biritsh citizenship?

Thanks,
Suresh

Is your son born in India?

He is not entitled to register for British citizenship after you're granted ILR. Therefore, he shouldn't skip ILR.

This is only relevant to children born in the UK.
