My wife is applying for British citizenship as the wife of a UK citizen, and I'm not clear on the Language Requirement.
She has a First Certificate in English level B2, Grade B from from August 2006. She has the accompanying Statement of Results with all modules at a sufficient standard, however she no longer has the Candidate ID number and Candidate's secret number. The exam board says she should contact the test centre. The test centre says they don't keep these numbers for more than 2 years.
She passed her life in the UK test on 28 November 2012. She was awarded Indefinite Leave to Remain on 9 April 2013. At the time, the Life in the UK test was also sufficient to satisfy the language requirement, so it didn't matter that she didn't have the candidate number.
So....I think this means that the First Certificate in English wouldn't be accepted because she doesn't have the First Certificate in English and has no means of obtaining it. She can't tick the box in section 1.22 saying that she met the language requirement to qualify for settlement on or after 28th October 2013, because ILR was awarded prior to this date.
Therefore she has to take the test again - so good bye £150. is this correct?
