Hi Vinny,

Due to EU business visit, I posted my T1-Extn application on 4th April (royalmail) and it means payment will be processed after 6 April, 2015 i.e. application is pre 06 April but payment is post 06 april
The line "you’ve APPLIED and PAID your visa fee on or after 6 April 2015" is confusing on https://www.gov.uk/healthcare-immigrati ... eed-to-pay"

Do I need to pay or not? I have just selected £1607 in the T1-Extn form version 12/14.

I've done what research I can on this, even tracking down the original legislation, and the wording is simply not very clear. I do believe though that they will notify you if they think you do need to pay the surcharge. You might be a test case for this particular scenario.

test case sounds so better than a HOME-OFFICE Guinea Pig as they are making people now

For any 3-year extn main/dependent, it adds £600 per applicant.
After NI and so much tax AND taking company private medial cover, this feels like just day light robbery.

Since we come with impeccable paper work, we are easy to track hence we are the easiest scape goats. Shame on this govt for such charges and drastic increase in visa fees since 2010 (increase is >100%). The taxes and NI we pay is more than average income of a first job starter. Still their thirst is not quenched and adding surcharges.

Hi,

I am a student on Tier 4 visa in UK and applying for Tier 2 General visa-premium service. I paid for the premium service on 31st March, 2015. At that time, no one had to pay for health care. But, i have the visa appointment on 16th April (after the 6th april). Do i need to pay IHS? Please reply ASAP. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Saurabh

Hi Saurabh,

I am not sure whether you would need to pay surcharge or not, but just thought to let you know that you can apply for 5 years visa under Tier-2 General category. As such, spare a thought to apply for 5 years visa (unless you weren't aware of this already) if you do not need to pay surcharge as you had booked and paid for your appointment before the new rules.

All the best.

Regards,
S
