Just a quick update on my story, our visa applications have been approved. Thanks to vinny and other moderators for their inputs and lot of information in this website. Here are the details
Main applicant: ILR based on 5 years on Tier 1 (General)
Dependent: was on Tier 1 dependent visa previously and we switched her to spouse visa using FLR (M). Although it resets her 5 year clock i though it is still worth (bearing costs in mind and future applications) also considering she is in the country for only 1 year and on either route she needs two extensions to get her settlement
Appointment: Same day appointments were booked for both of us on the same day and at almost same time (30 mins gap for each appointment). I thought it is worth mentioning because I saw in other posts where people on same situation as me were applying their ILR first and spouse appointment after they get their BRP. Just to let you know that they can be done on the same day. Or may be I am lucky i don't know since the case worker who did our applications told us that I can process your both applications together but it might take upto three hours or longer than usual since the spouse visa is dependent on Main applicant's approval.
Financial requirements: Same documents as that of my ILR application showing earnings more than the requirement. I have photocopied these and put in my wife's file and attached a cover letter stating that the originals are with the ILR application.
Cohabitation Documents: People might have lot of questions about this just to help you there are few things which I did that might be helpful. Just when I realised I didn't have enough documents to show we are staying together, i have tried some of these online offers like family and friends rail cards (familyandfriends-railcard.co.uk), requested letter from NHS stating that we are registered with them since Date to till Date (Charged £5 each), voter registration (done Just on time), started a joint account two months back etc.
Wife's English Language requirement: provided UK NARIC letters but the case worker called us to bring the original degree certificate as well. worth mentioning her masters degree was from India and was recognised on the UKBA points calculator.
Any questions I am happy to help people to the best of my knowledge, good luck to all applicants
