EC: Accomodation query

Post by boyzzeal » Sat Sep 29, 2007 2:18 pm

Dear all,

For people who are applying for EC and do not have friends/relatives staying in UK, what is the other way out? Is Hotel reservation the only option and if so, how economically it could be done? Kindly comment!!!

Regards,
Deeps

Some further options:
- Bed and breakfast hotels tend to be systematically cheaper, but are appropriate only for a short while, I should think.
- If you arrive in summer, student rooms in university residence halls are sometimes made available (suitable for singles only, often with shared baths and self-catering).
- For those who graduated from UK universities, sometimes there are guest rooms/flats that college affiliates may use (usually available year-round).
- If you expect to take some time before moving into your own accommodation, holiday/business flats are more suitable for short-term stays (self-catering is possible, e.g.), and are cheaper than staying in a hotel for weeks on end.
- If your university club in your home country has reciprocal arrangements with university clubs in the UK, the reciprocating clubs have concessionary rates for guest rooms (cheaper than decent hotels, at any rate).
