Your local FRRO/FRO will issue exit permit so contact them in the first instance. The exit permit is normally issued 2/3 days prior to departure - passport, temp residence permit (if any), birth certificate, confirmed dep ticket, proof of address are key requirements.

Thanks for your reply, it seems applying for British passport and getting exit permit is going to be a long process.

if i apply for Indian passport for the baby and get visa to come to UK will be quicker right, i can apply for British passport once baby comes to UK.

i wonder what sort of we should apply for the baby? have you got any idea?

that'll make the child british citizen (by descent) and hence qualify for right of abode.

the is indian citizen by birth - as mother is indian - hence eligible for indian passport.

so either you apply british passport for the child or CoE RoA on Indian passport.

Thanks for the information,
Aslong as husband was legally settled in the uk (ilr) at the birth of child and now is naturalised you can apply for right of abode :)

I applied last month in Pakistan and it came in 8 days! I am british by birth though
June 30th 2014 - Applied for spouse visa (Pakistan)
August 11th 2014 - daughters Right of Abode applied
August 18th 2014 - Right of Abode successful
December 2nd 2014 - Spouse visa refused
December 29th 2014 - Reapplied for Spouse visa

Can someone help please.

I gathered from elsewhere that if you are traveling back to UK within 1 month of new passport, then no need to apply at FRRO. Local SP (police ) have right to stamp it.

Is this correct?

I have been called for interview on 21st April.

I guess, passport will come shortly after that as it happens in UK. I am planning to travel back to UK as soon as I get the passport.
