Healthcare Surcharge

Post by pillaipraveen » Mon Apr 20, 2015 4:12 pm

Hi all, I am a bit surprised with the new HealthCare surcharge. Am I right in thinking that when I extend my visa (end of this year) for another 3 years, then I will have to pay £1,800 (3 applicants including myself) in addition to the normal visa fees. Is this on top of ~£9,000 that we have already paid as National Insurance over the last 2.5 years and another £9,000 that we will be paying over the next 2.5 years? I know that I am an immigrant in this country and I have no right to question these rules. I am at least glad that I have a vote next month!!!. Have a great day all.

I'm sorry to say that your calculation is correct.

I have absolutely no issues with tax or NI and consider it as my duty to pay these as a resident enjoying all the goodness of this country. I am also happy to be paying NI for NHS, which to me is a great organisation that provides exceptional service to those who are in need.
My issue was just about a general rule that came from nowhere that will be of some concern to the immigrants who are doing just fine!
