Request documents for employment while waiting for appeal?

Hi all,

My wife's spouse visa application was refused on Sept 2014. We decided to appeal and her hearing was scheduled for last month but has been pushed to October 2015. She was/is on a TIER 4 Student Visa.

I understand from section 3C & 3D of the Immigration Act 1971 that she is eligible to work. Therefore I have a couple of questions:

1. Will she able to request any of her documents back without compromising the appeal?
2. Can the UKVI provide some sort of Immigration Status Document detailing her status including her right to work/extension of Visa and its conditions (under section 3D)?
