Hi all.
I'm just wondering if HO have taking the fees and sent the acknowledgement letter, it's been roughly over a month since all this, Does this mean that the application is in process and I wait for the aproval? Or they can turn around and ask for more information if they want?

Usually if they take your file for processing then immediately they will deduct the fees. In your case , they haven't started to process your application.

I think the first thing they do is to take the fees, which they've done with mine

This comment made by someone from March 2014 timeline made sense to me

they said caseworkers are given a target of completing 10 cases a day and what they do is go through the files and select the more complicated cases and give priority to them. the straight forward cases are then put aside to wait or given to junior members of the team to complete. after they complete these straight forward cases, they then have to be quality checked before approval letter is written. All of these factors attribute to why some people get approvals before others even though you may have applied before or on the same day as them.

"Each caseworker was required to make 10 decisions a day, which was the foundation of the overall decision making target.
For example, we found that caseworkers reviewed their entire allocation of files, established which ones needed additional information (and were therefore likely to take longer) and prioritised those first. This meant that information could be obtained without adding unnecessary delay to the decision making process".

That is interesting.... But how to explain the fact that they sent me a letter asking to tell them what is the right way of spelling my name and if I had not told within 7 working days they WILL BE issuing my certificate with my name they think should be spelt (they sent that request on the 27th of March) and after more than 4 weeks I heard nothing back?? Surely, if they needed response within 7 days for spelling my name on certificate they must have printed it by now??? Otherwise why tell me that if I don't respond they WILL print certificate in the certain way? I am really confused.
Applied 03/03/2015
Fee deducted 10/03/2015
Approval letter received 01/05/2015
Ceremony 02/06/2015
Passport application sent 05/06/2015

Thanks guys!

My letter said I will receive another letter inviting me to my ceremony. I might just try call my local council and see if they have my details. Doubt they would as I'm sure HO only send regular mail to them too. Not special delivery like mine was

Spoke to my council (Waltham Forest) they haven't received my details yet but should next week. Nearest ceremony date is in June though.

Might book a private one instead
