Appendix FM - Ongoing employment

A question in relation to the Appendix FM financial requirement for spouses... If someone is trying to prove they meet the requirement through self- employment i.e by having a profit of more than £18,600 in the last tax year, there is a requirement that they show "ongoing SELF-employment at the date of application". However what if that person by the date of application has found normal employment and has ceased earning through self-employment. Is it OK to show ongoing employment? One is still technically self-employed but cannot show evidence of earnings. However they could show a payslip from their new employment.
