Family Vistor Visa

Hi,

I am a British citizen (wife on ILR) and I want to invite my in-laws on visiting visa for my wife’s delivery. I want to apply for 6 months and they are central government employees(BSNL) in India. Has anyone in my situation applied for visa? If so can anyone share the required details along with document list to be submitted?

My main doubts after overlooking some posts are
1) Do they need to submit their leave approval letter covering the same 6 months period?
2) I have read that it is better to send an invitation letter saying they will be here for 2-3 months rather than saying entire 6 months.
