Do i need a visa for Czech Rep. UK ILR Holder (Spouse)

Post by maikash2747 » Mon Jul 18, 2011 2:00 pm

Hi,

I have been banging my head against the wall for past two days. Cannot find any concrete evidence confirning either way.

Basically I hold ILR. My wife is british by birth and so is my 6 yr old daughter.

I just found a long lost childhood friend who im dying to meet. Originally booked a spain holiday and was just about to apply for spanish visa when this happened so now i want to take my family to czech republic for a week.

Do i need a visa to visit czech for a week ? My ILR is stamped on my passport. My wife and daughter both are travelling with me and they hold british passports.

Any help or clues would be greatly apprecited.

I did try searching the forum and googled few terms, but couldnt find a number to call and confirm.

If i missed the obvious i do apologize.

Regards.

Here is what the TIMATIC says, the database that airlines use to check visa requirements, it says you can get a visa on arrival in Czech Republic, while strangely, it says you can travel to Poland visa free with ILR. I don't know why there are different Schengen entry requirements at different Ports. really strange.

I find that different Schengen countries have different requirements for entry, this is very strange, as the idea of Schengen was suppose to be uniform entry.

So
Poland accept UK ILR as exemption for Schengen Visa and also accept EU "Family Member" Residence Cards
Czech Rep grant port visas to EU family members and also accept EU "Family Member" Residence Cards
France only accept EU "Family Member" Residence Cards resident cards as exemption for Visa
Switzerland don't accept EU "Family Member" Residence Cards, demand Schengen Visa regardless.

what a mess !

Can you ask them if the Visa can be issued on arrival ? as it says on the Timatic system.
https://www.timaticweb.com/cgi-bin/tim_ ... user=GFB2C
Visa Issuance:
- Family members of EU nationals can obtain a
short-term visa on arrival (free of charge), provided
holding a reliable proof thereof (e.g. marriage
certificate).
EDIT: I just read, the Czech Embassy actually asks that you check Timatic !!
http://www.mzv.cz/london/en/visa_and_co ... o_not.html
6 Information about the visa requirements is possible to verify through Timatic. Timatic is the database of Passport, Visa and Health regulations used by the entire aviation industry. Airlines and travel agents use Timatic to provide advice on border requirements to passengers at the time of booking, and airlines use it at the time of boarding to ensure that passengers have sufficient travel documents for their destination and any transit points.
