how to sign application form if a person cant write

Post by dp12 » Sun May 17, 2015 11:11 am

Hi

I wonder if a thumb impression is valid in place of signature if a person cant write. Someone is applying for family visitor visa wants to clarify?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I found this document which is to do with applying for a UK passport, however, it might give you some ideas regarding your query.

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... -write.pdf

I think it depends on what documents needs signing/thumb print and what the policies of that specific country is.

For e.g. my own country allows thumb print in passport applications as well as other official documents for its citizens.

I hope someone else can offer some more advice.

I am hoping someone else can come and give you some advice if they have been through a similar situation or are aware of the procedure.

I am sure there must be some guidance regarding this as not every person can sign.

Out of curiosity, does the person have a passport?
If yes, does it have a thumb print as well?
I am thinking if the passport has a thumb print then why can't the application form have the same?

You could also have a written confirmation drafted stating that this person cannot write and read etc., therefore has a thumb print instead of a signature and have the document notarised to avoid any issues.
