Advice Needed for Naturalization

Post by c4551m » Tue May 19, 2015 3:11 am

Hi All,

I need advice on my case, I am about to apply for Naturalization in July , so want to make sure all paper work is in order. I got ILR in July 2014, so what's the earliest date I can apply for Naturalization ?. I had motoring conviction for untaxed vehicle back in 2013 which I paid( it was before my ILR and I declared in my application) the thing which I am a bit worried about is poor credit history due to delayed bill payments, I am in debt for my council tax and utility bills but I have made payment plan and paying them small amount weekly and monthly. Will this effect my application in section for Good Character ?

Kindly help me with this query, Thanks
Flro applied 23.02.14
Varied application to SET LR 3.3.14
Biometrics done 24.3.14
Approval 24.7.14
Docs received 28.7,14

Personally I think you should be fine if haven't declared bankrupt.
Being British is a state of mind.

Was the motoring conviction from a magistrate/court? You'll need to wait 3 years from that date, so July 2016.

Yes it was from Manchester Magistrate court for unlicensed keeping of vehicle, letter dated 21/03/2013, but I paid the whole amount through bailiffs, when they visited the property on 27/06/13. Will it have an effect on the application , if i apply at the end of this year, as i will be eligible from 24/06/15. thnks

See Q3 of the FAQ.

I think (but not 100% sure) it's 3 years from the date of the judgement, so you'll need to wait until after the 21/03/2016.

I'll just add I don't think your credit history will be a problem as long as you have an agreed plan that you stick to. Non-payment of council tax can also lead to refusal, for example if you just stopped paying and the council took you to court.

Thanks for your reply,

I have just checked any records for CCJ's online, all came "no results found". Does this mean its not registered ?

No, CCJ is for debt. You need to check with the court or make an SAR request. You have a criminal conviction, you must wait 3 years.

HI Thanks again for your reply and information,
Yes I did manage to get the SAR report from ACPO Criminal records Office, when I applied for Indefinite last year and it came clear as "NO Information held about you in PNC ". Is this report you talking about ?. Thanks
