HSMP Extension query.

Post by HSMP » Sat Nov 27, 2004 6:35 pm

Hi Forum..
I have few queries regd hsmp extension and would be thankful if you guys can help me in this.
- Will working as contractor affect my HSMP extension?
This is bcos in UK most contracts are through emails and I dont have hard copies of that.
- I get paid through Umbrella company so cant ask for employment letter from them.
- All the pay slips are online and they dont provide hard copies of that. How should I manage with this?
- I was unemployed for sometime, will this affect my HSMP ext?
I am confident that someone will definetely have answers to my queries.
Looking forward to hearing from the forum.
Have a nice weekend guys.

Kind Regards
Hari Shankar Mangal Prasad(HSMP)

Should not effect your extension. But the level of documentation you have is very little. Keep all your bank statements, to show salary credits. Regardless of salary slips, you should have a P60 showing your earnings and tax paid during the last financial year ending March 2004.
I was unemployed for sometime, will this affect my HSMP ext?
Not an issue, it is recommended that you be employed at the time of applying for extension. They need to see that you are capable of taking care of your self and not be a burden on the tax payers. Therefore have a decent bank balance as well.

I was in the same situation and my HSMP has been extended for further 3 years. I was doing a contract work for three months and then unemployed for 9 months.

Here is what you need to submit:

1. You must show that you have been actively looking for work during your unemployment period. Copies of applications you wrote/replies recieved during that time. Include Names of employers you approached and their contact numbers.
2. Copies of emails your recieved if you registered Employment agencies.
2. Interview letter if you have offered one.
3. Bank Statements for the whole employment + unemployment period.
4. Tax return P60 or P45.
5. Proof of Residence (e.g Tenancy Agreement)
6. Gas, Electricity and Council Tax Bills.

I think your HSMP will be extended if you submit the above documents.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Mwazir, msh and the forum.
As per msh,
Is it required to provide the bills like telephone and rental agreement?
I see it nowhere in the FLR form where the HO expects the applicant to submit these days.
Mu understanding is that if i submit my bank details and P45, it should be sufficent.
Pls correct me if i m wrong.

Regds

PS: I beleive that there is no harm is providing the bills etc, but is it OK if i dont supply?

Tenancy agreement or proof of residence is an important document as it is used as evidence as to how you have accomodated yourself. That is more important that submitting utility bills.

I am staying with a family friend and I have a letter stating that I stay with them. But the letter is dated Jan 2004.
Can i use the same letter?
Also as a proof that I am staying at the same place, my bank statement has the same address.

Shouldnt be an issue. Just be on the safer side, since its a family friend, cant you get a letter from him stating the period of your stay (as in the same as the period of HSMP 1 year cosideration). Your Jan 2004 letter is a bit old, dont you think?

Ya you are right the letter is bit old.
The prob is my friend is travelling across the world and on a 3 month long holiday. I cant wait till he comes back and unfortunately he wont take the pain of printing a letter and sending it to me :(
Whats your gut felling should I go ahead with the old letter?

If the uberalla company is paying the salaries etc, then my opinion is your are not self employed.

You are only technically self employed if you register as such with the Inland Revenue. People working through their own Limited Companies & Umbrella companies are employees of these companies and as such not self employed.

That should be sufficient. Look at the guidelines in the FLR, the documents required have been mentioned there as well including the checklist.

Hi,

I am also in the process of applying extension soon. What is mean by 4a. Contract and 4b. Employment letter. Also what is mean by proof of earning letters. Is it salary Slips??

Additionally, Is House rent contract or utility bills necessary to be attached??. Also i have started my employment after 4.5 month of arrival. Is it necessary to attach all the interview and application letters for this period or as i am presently working not necessary to attach these documents?

Could any one clarify these points please.

Regards,

Also i have started my employment after 4.5 month of arrival. Is it necessary to attach all the interview and application letters for this period or as i am presently working not necessary to attach these documents? - Not mandatory, but if u have any correspondence then attach it.
