URGENT - Tier 2 in country switch - wrong SOC code

Hi,

I am in the process of switching employer under Tier 2 General and my new prospective employer just assigned a CoS for me today.

I noticed that the SOC code they mentioned in the CoS is 2134 (IT project and programme managers) whereas I think that the description matches more with 2136 (Programmers and software development professionals).

Moreover, the job posting explicitly says that the Career Level is "Experienced (Non-Manager)".

1. Would they need to apply a new COS?
2. Can't they correct the SOC code in the sponsor notes section?
3. How much time does it take to get a new unrestricted COS?
4. I have already paid for a premium in person appointment which is on 6th June 2015 (4 days from now). Can I reschedule it without any charge?

Please help me with your expert guidance. I don't want to land in mess due to a difference of just one digit (2134 vs 2136)

the SOC code cannot be changed by a sponsor note.

It is your sponsor's responsibility to use the most appropriate SOC code, ask them to look carefully at the descriptions given for SOC codes 2134 and 2136:

3. around two weeks to get an allocation if there is not one available already, 20 minutes to assign the CoS
4. phone the helpline or look on the UKVI website
