Change of Tax Code

Post by ranaji82 » Fri Jun 05, 2015 8:03 pm

Hi all, Today i have received a letter from HMRC stating that i have paid less tax in the last financial year. I am working in a company from last 1.5 years and i have no idea about this because i received wages every month after tax deduction. HMRC stated that they are going to change my Tax code for this year and going to deduct money through my new tax code. it is only £ 460 which i owed as per letter. my questions are:
1) is this possible for a large company to paid less tax ? If yes than what do i do?

2) Does this effect my ILR application?

Hi Rana,
Same thing happened with one of my friend when he switched his job. I think you might have changed your job as well during the tax year in question.

Regarding your ILR, there will absolutely be no prob. My friend got his ILR without any issues.

This is normal and second job tax code is BR which is right and taxed at 20%

You will need to pay remaining 19 or 20 % tax later on via PAYE or usind self assessment. Again by law you have to declare this income to hmrc
