IN COUNTRY -> Tier-2 (ICT ST) to Tier-2 (Gen) Dependent

Post by amit.sarkar007 » Mon Jun 08, 2015 10:30 am

Me and my girlfriend are planning to get married soon. Our current Visa status is as follows ->

ME
Current Visa -> Tier-2 (ICT ST)
CoS Expiry -> 02-Nov-2015
Visa Expiry -> 03-Nov-2015

HER
Current Visa -> Tier-2 (Gen)
BRP Expiry -> 05-Feb-2018

After we get married I want to switch to Tier-2 (Gen) Dependent visa before my current CoS expiry.

I have the following questions ->

1. Is it possible to switch within UK?
2. Do I need to write the English language exam (I have an Indian passport and my University is not recognized for securing points for English language)
3. If I'm applying within UK, do we BOTH need to maintain maintenance funds separately? If only I maintain funds, will that suffice?

Hi Amit,
I can answer it until experts confirm it.
"I have the following questions ->
1. Is it possible to switch within UK?
Yes .
2. Do I need to write the English language exam (I have an Indian passport and my University is not recognized for securing points for English language)
No need for applying Tier 2 general dependent visa
3. If I'm applying within UK, do we BOTH need to maintain maintenance funds separately? If only I maintain funds, will that suffice?
IF you have maintained in your bank account that is suficient . Also marriage certificate is important which in some cases get 2 months delay and hence plan your marrriage accordingly if you want to do switch in-country

Hi Porus,

Thanks for the quick response.

Regarding the maintenance funds, as per the site - https://www.gov.uk/tier-2-general/family-members

1. Do i need to maintain £630 for 90 days in my bank account?
2. Does she need to maintain £945 for 90 days in her bank account? She is currently working on Tier 2 General Visa, so does she still need to show maintenance funds for herself?
3. Can I work for my existing employer once I switch to the dependent visa?

Thanks,
Amit.

1 and 2
only £630 needs to be maintained for 90 days before you apply and it can be either in your or her account.
3
yes

Thanks,
Amit.

Thanks a lot manci for your response. This info surely helps. As we were both trying to maintain funds separately in our accounts.

But with your response it clearly indicates that if I maintain the funds, then it should suffice for the application.

Hi Manci,

We have got our marriage registration date fixed.

And we have also confirmed that we will get the marriage certificate on the same day of our registration.

I have also kept my Tier-2 (Gen) Dependent visa application ready and also the IHS application ready.

I am planning to apply for the same day service (Premium) at the Croydon centre. Is it necessary for my partner to come with me for the appointment. Or can I do it on my own?
