Spouse now has British passport - process over :)

Post by jjustyy » Mon Oct 15, 2007 12:51 pm

Thought I'd say a final thank you to John and all the posters on the forum as my wife received her British passport on Friday. :)

Here's the complete timeline:

* 12th May 2005 - Applied for Certificate of Approval (COA)
* 5th June 2005 - COA arrived
* 15th June 2005 - Gave notice of marriage
* 2nd July 2005 - Marriage
* 8th July 2005 - FLR (M) - Solihull PEO
-------
* 24th March 2007 - Passed Life in the UK test (been in the UK since 1998)
-------
* 11th June 2007 - SET (M) - Solihull PEO
* 2nd July 2007 - Applied for Naturalisation at Northampton NCS
* 19th September 2007 - Citizenship Ceremony in Coventry
* 25th September 2007 - Applied for British passport (Check & Send)
* 11th October 2007 - Current passport and Naturalisation Certificate arrive
* 12th October 2007 - British passport arrived!

It's a fairly painless process (we both enjoyed the Citizenship ceremony too), especially with all the advice that can be found here. Sadly, it is expensive, but it was our decision to go through this and is easier than most other countries.

Thanks from us both 8)

Many congratulations!
I am not, and cannot, offer legal advice to particular people. I can only discuss general areas of immigration law.

People should always consider obtaining professional advice about their own particular circumstances.
