steps - spouse dependant visa

Hello All

I will be applying for my spouse' dependant visa in december. I will have all necessary documentation and my case is straightforward, ie. no complicacies. I am a PR here. my question is:

1. When we submit the documents to the British embassy in Delhi on DAY 0 (say), what are the next steps? Will we be required to stay in delhi for the next 2 days? The reason i'm asking is because i was thinking of going on a mini-honeymoon break for 2 days just after applying? Is that a sensible thing to do?

2. Will their be a finger print required for the visa?
