Please have a look into my case and advice me ..its for Permanent residency

I came as a student visa in spet16 2001
I got wp on Oct 10 2002 till oct2003. (1 year)
when my employer tried to renew the wp got rejected 3 times . by the time I applied for leave to remain to home office saying my employer is waiting for the reply from wp , and they agreed mine is a valid application .

then I found new employer, he tried 3 times to get my wp and I got on jan 2005 for 3years ( valid till Jan2008)

Do I qualify to apply for Preeminent residency now ? my first wp stamped on oct 2002 . I feel there is gap between oct 2003 till Jan 2005
will it affect my qualifying period ?

Jo - I think it has to be continuous - someone correct me if I am wrong. You can have multiple work permits, but it needs to be a continuous period.

1 year and a few months is a bit long and it is hard to argue that the wp was continuous.

To answer your question in short no you don't qualify for ILR just yet,
because of the gap between Oct 2003 and Jan 2005 so the clock started ticking for you on your second work permit only, this would mean you can apply for ILR in Jan 2010, but you will need a new WP in Jan 2008.
