English Language Requirement After 5 Nov 2015

Post by rabirabi83 » Sun Jun 21, 2015 11:01 am

Hi,

As you all know the English language requirement will change on 5 Nov 2015. My question is the people who has done their Master degree from UK universities, would it be compulsory for them to do any proposed English language course by HO in order to fulfil the English language requirement for Naturalisation application if they are applying after 5 November 2015?

It's doubtful & would have been announced by now if it was planned.

Any such policy proposal would be announced by Uk gov in a 'statement of intent'.

Last one I can find dates from 2013:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... -of-intent

At the moment it's recognised there are special groups...
It is possible that the requirements for English language for KoLL may change in the future and applicants will need to meet the requirements in place at that time.

The following groups are considered automatically to meet the English language component of the KoLL requirement and will not be required to show a formal speaking and listening qualification:
  • Nationals of majority English speaking countries (Annex A)
Those who have obtained a degree taught in English
All that is gold does not glitter; Not all those who wander are lost. E&OE.

You need not worry. Any UK degree will be accepted as part of satisfying the English requirement even after November 2015.

The way the Home Office have worded their statement is being misread and poorly worded and have lead people to believe that after November, only a English test from the approved list will be accepted but this is not the case.

The immigration rules clearly state there are 3 ways to satisfy the KOLL requirements for the English part

1. English test from approved list
2. Degree taught and researched in English
3. Being from a majority of English speaking country
