Changing Jobs - Short Term Contract

Post by Dr_Paradave » Thu Jun 18, 2015 4:23 pm

Hello, I am hoping someone here has advice on this.

I am American, married to a British national. She is not working. I live with her in the UK, and am working now on a Tier 4 Doctoral Extension Visa which expires in 5 months. I have been working for the past 7 months at £28,500, but that job ends this month. I have a new job starting at £24,500, but that contract is only being offered for 5 months (the posting I accepted the offer for was for 18months) because that is when my current visa expires. Combined my wife and I earned about £31,000 over the past 12 months, and can provide the documents to prove that.

My question is whether the payslips and bank accounts from the past year plus the short term contract until the end of my visa are sufficient evidence for Option B?

Thank you,
Dave

Well how much longer after you plan to apply does your contract end?
It would be good if your employer could state that they are happy to extend the contract once your time in the UK has been extended.

Update: I contacted my new employer, and they agreed to make the contract for 18 months with a subclause that I will need to provide evidence of renewed right to work.

Planning to apply in August 2015, and the contract now runs until January 2017. Is that enough time?
