Cover letter

Hi guys/gals

What should we put on a cover letter?

I understand it is somewhat important to include a cover letter detailing a certain amount of context as to why we want to settle together in the UK?

Does anyone have a list of ideas for roughly what we should include?

If I remember rightly my cover letter consisted of:
- relationship history
- plans for the future
- why the UK
- anything I want to highlight and bring to the ECO's attention
