Naturalisation - Absences support documents.

Post by MK123 » Thu Jun 25, 2015 2:20 pm

All

I am preparing to apply for naturalisation next week. As I am filling in the form I listing the absences and I have an absence close to 300 days in the year 5(2011) going backwards from current year. I am a little concerned if this will cause any issues. Should I submit any documents for that fin year or not complicate the the issue as I have successfully obtained ILR.

Your inputs are appreciated.

Thanks

What is the basis (Tier 1, Tier 2, Ancestry, Long residency, etc) of your ILR application?

The guide tells:
To satisfy the residence requirement you should not have been absent for more than 90 days in the last 12 months. And the total number of days absence for the whole 5 year period should not exceed 450. If you are married to, or in a civil partnership with a British citizen, the total number of days absence for the whole 3 year period should not exceed 270.
So its the latest year in your count of five years, not the earliest, which must be under 90 day absence rule. And total number of holidays in all five years combined, must not exceed 450 days.

Also, the booklet AN tells that 480 days are normally disregarded. Over that you have to ask for discretion. Personally If I had more than 480 total days absent from UK then I'd not risk spending £1000+ amount, unless you have a really good reason for absences.
Rest is your choice, of course.
Being British is a state of mind.

My total absences in 5 years are less than 450. Just was a little worries that the first year had a large absence. Will try not to worry about it as I am fine by the books.
