I was reading today posts from May 2014. Similarly, there was a backlog, immigration staff shuffle between departments, a strike, etc.

First few applicants got their approvals on last days of June 2014, then nothing until August 2014. By then, approvals were happening very slowly still--1 every 1-2 weeks. Most got theirs September / October 2014.

Still haven't gottenan ack email though the home office called and said my daughter doesn't need biometrics as she is a baby so...?

Who so ever has told you has either no clue of biometric rules or he wants you to suffer a loss of £1k. You can call them again and you will get a different answer. You can either read the rules available on the web or you can go to any post office doing biometric and see how many kids of 12 are queuing up there for the biometrics. Children below the age of 6 are exempted from biometrics because there finger prints are not developed. But still they have to go to post office for picture, and they have to be accompanied by a responsible adult who is being authorised by the home office. You must have filled a colum in the application where you must have mentioned the name of responsible adult going to accompany your child for the biometrics. Please see the link below

Thanks. I did call back and they told me she would require a photo at least. I don't know, maybe they told me that because I'm not in the UK?

Anyhow I emailed the biometrics team asking them for letter who said I need to email the nationality team..problem is I did that like 2 weeks ago and still no reply..smh

So they told me today that they did actually post bio-metric letter 2 weeks ago ... and hence, I should request a re-issue of the letter ... So, if you are from mid May, call them .. .

UKVI does not send another letter to confirm the receipt of biometrics (why add more cost to their process?). Your biometric information will be securely sent to the Home Office by the Post Office electronically, hence the reason you'll have that barcode on your biometric's letter following your doing it at the Post Office.

The next thing you should get is either a) request for more information or b) approval!

They give you 15 working days from the date of the letter. The problem is from date of letter until the date you receive the letter is often about one and a half weeks!!! We only had 4 days left before we had to do our biometrics after we received the letter and it caused a LOT of stress - getting urgent time off work, etc. And our nearest biometric post office is nearly an hour from our home address!!!

Same here whenever i phone theme they usually says that some one from department will call you with in 72 hrs and no body has called yet .

I received the call on 4th day. They asked me for my name, DOB, address and current nationality.

When we had to the HO cos the application type of the acknowledgement was wrong....we emailed that same address but in the subject box we put ' For your immediate attention' and they relied within 12 hours. Maybe its worth a try!

That is quite interesting statement as all mine documents came as second class. Definitely not recorded mail

I'm in similar situation. Got a acknowledgment email, but no fees are deducted.
