Multiple Citizenship - Irish, NZ, British

Post by Ede » Sun Jun 28, 2015 10:56 pm

This is my first time posting here, so I hope I'm posting in the right place.

I currently hold Irish and New Zealand citizenship (Irish parents and I grew up in NZ).
I would like to apply for British citizenship.

I know I can hold dual citizenship of each of these countries, but none of the webpages say anything about a third citizenship.
http://www.nzembassy.com/united-kingdom ... itizenship
https://www.gov.uk/dual-citizenship
http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/mo ... nship.html

I think it is probably okay, but I would obviously like to be sure (and I'm not sure how to be!)

Does anyone know for sure that I can hold all three, or whether there are any risks involved in this?

Many thanks for any advice.

Countries either allow their nationals to hold multiple citizenships or they do not. You can hold as many citizenships as you are entitled to, provide you adhere to the rules for each one.

It was a while ago, but there was somebody on these forums who had four citizenships, each from a different continent. Similarly, I met somebody who is simultaneously an American, Danish and Australian citizen (born to a Danish father and Australian mother in the US).

So, yes, you can have all the citizenships listed on your post.

My children have 3 nationalities. As I am from EU, their father is North African and they were entitled for British citizenship too so holding British passport as well. Myself I have dual as I am British too by naturalisation . My husband applied in March and waiting for his approval so he is going to have dual nationalities too.

Altogether we have 9 passport but hopefully going to be 10 soon :-D

Good luck!
