Hi All,
Just thought of updating everyone that for a working visa in IT field, a computer related degree is mandatory. I have a 4 years engineering degree in electronics and wanted to apply for working visa.
This is the reply I got from the workingvisa department today

I wish to refer to your e-mail of 15/11/04 to this Department. If it is an
electronics degree you have then would not qualify under the working
visa/work authorisation scheme. In order to qualify for a working
visa/work authorisation under the working visa/work authorisation scheme
for the Information and Computing Technologies Professional sector and the
Information and Computing Technicians sector, persons must have a third
level qualification. For ICT Technicians, applicants must have the minimum
of a diploma in the Information and Computing Technology field from a
recognized third level institution. For ICT Professional, applicants must
have the minimum of a degree in the Information and Computing Technology
field from a recognized third level institution. You would need
confirmation from the third level institution to which you obtained your
qualification to see if your qualifications surffice under the above. If
they can confirm that you hold a degree in information and computing
technologies or a diploma in information technologies then an application
may be consider under the working visa/work authorisation scheme.
If the above does not apply then you would need a work permit as mention in
my previous e-mail.
