Individual application vs Nationality Checking Service(NCS)

Post by Linchou » Tue Jul 07, 2015 12:11 am

Dear Forum ,

Can you please tell me the pros and cons of the two options for British citizenship application ?

Make an individual application
Use the Nationality Checking Service (NCS)

Benefit of applying via NCS is you keep your original documents and NCS staff would make copies of your originals to enclose with your application form.

I dont know if there is any pros for sending by post....
NCS is bettercos they thoroughly check your form for errors or small things you may have missed.....and if they say you need something and u dont have it...u lose the ncs fee and not the 1005 HO fee

At the sane time, if youre confident you have done it all correctly and dont want to travel, post is fine.

My only questionis why are the NCS fees different in every city? My city and county council are different...county was £10 cheaper!!!

With NCS, as well as sanity-checking of the application and return of documents, the cost of forwarding the application (securely) to the HO is included in the NCS fee.
No need to pay separately for the despatch (& ofcourse no need to pay for secure return of your documents).

Hi,

I am an eU citizen and sent my application by myself as I have a passport and ID card too however it took only 5 weeks to get the approval.
My husband is a non EU citizen. He has used NCS as he has only passport and knew it would take longer to wait for his approval. Today it is exactly 5 months since he applied however he got his approval yesterday :-)
If you have your passport only as a travel document then I would definitely use NCS.
Good luck! :)
