Switching companies under same SOC code

Post by drdevil47 » Tue Jul 14, 2015 10:16 am

Dear All,
I am planning to switch companies under same SOC code 2112 biological scientists, which is a phd level category.
I have got the experienced worker salary sorted.
Am I exempted from RMLT under this SOC code ?
Also I am confused about restricted or unrestricted COS. Is changing companies more complicated than changing from PSW or Tier 4. I got tier 2 first under PSW to Tier 2.
Thanks in Advance. I need to tell these things to HR of new company. Please help me with these.
kind regards

Looks like 2112 is removed from shortage occupation list from Apr-2015. In that case, your new employer should carry out RLMT for the role.
Check this for the latest SOL: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... ation-list

You will need an unrestricted CoS for changing your job. As long as your documentation is complete and the sponsor has carried out the RLMT properly, I don't see any issues with your switch.

Thanks a lot, my only concern that is confusing me is in Standard Occupational classification (https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... l_2015.pdf)

In this they have mentioned this as role skilled to Phd level which my job is fortunately and also shows the salary for experienced labour. Or this is something I am confused with ?

This is the list of jobs that can be sponsored for Tier 2. Since yours is a PhD job, you are exempt from the ILR salary requirement, but not from RLMT.
