Life in the UK refund grounds

Post by Life on the UK » Mon Jul 13, 2015 8:31 pm

Hello

Today I wasn't allowed to do my Life in the UK test because the name i submitted was not the same as the one on the ID (BRP).

But this was because the BRP name field does not have enough space for my whole name, so one name is omitted from the BRP. I emailed the Home Office about this when I first got my BRP and they said its acceptable, because of the character limitation.

I had the email on hand to show the test centre but they did not consider it.

Do you guys think this was correct of them to do, and is it grounds for a refund on the test?

(Of course, if I registered with the same name as the BRP, then there would be a mismatch between the name on the test certificate and all other Home Office records of me)

Thanks

Probably fee is lost now.
I'd request to use current Passport (which would have correct name I assume?) the next time you book the test, to avoid such problems.
Being British is a state of mind.

Of all the acceptable ID documents for LITUK, you had to choose the one wherein your name was not correct!
Then you ask UKV&I whether a test center would accept it. Of course they will say yes .. because they cannot display your full name on the BRP due to technicality!!! Why didn't you call up the nearest test center to verify??
And now you want a refund for your own mistake(s)!!
